At a first meeting of the project team “GeTie” (Gemeinschaftsleistung Tierwohl) with market partners of the pork value chain, the participants had an open exchange about the developed platform and the business model of a cooperative. Market partners from the food retail trade and from label and standard providers were represented. Also, there was a representative of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
In essence, the exchange was about the cloud-based platform – a development by farmers for farmers: tailored to their own needs and with a solution orientation for current problems from practice. In addition to positive feedback on the new data management and communication platform, the discussion brought new ideas for implementation and practical use. Critical points were also raised, which will be incorporated into the evaluation and validation phase currently underway. The participants agreed that the cloud-based platform for collecting, securely storing, and sharing data will make farms fit for the future. A “direct communication line” between farmers and food retailers is seen as a good improvement for future collaboration.
The Operational Group of the EIP.NRW project GeTie is now entering the final months of development, in which a few more innovative new features will be introduced, and previous developments will be finalized. The completed project will be presented to various entities in the new year. The public will learn about the organizational-technical innovation at the International Green Week in Berlin 2022.
