One of the biggest structural changes is about to become reality in a region at the West of Germany called “Rheinisches Revier” (something that could be called Rhineland district). The particular region includes the rural districts of Euskirchen, Heinsberg, Rhine-Erft, Neuss and the urban districts of Moenchengladbach and Aachen. Here, the structural change will take place through a lot of research and development projects.
This region is located adjacent to the Cologne-Bonn-region where EQAsce is very active jointly with its network partners. The replacement of coal production and its generation of electricity by future-oriented technologies and future-oriented economic sectors, including agriculture to a large extent, offers enormous opportunities – as well for ongoing EQAsce-projects and initiatives. Some of our partners are located close to the Rheinische Revier or do have a field of activity here. Thus, EQAsce is in close contacts to those responsible for the structural change through its network-cluster Bonn.realis.
For example, it might be possible to establish digital structures that come out of the EIP.NRW-project “GeTie” into agricultural enterprises in the Rheinische Revier, to implement AR/VR-tools for trainings in the areas of science and agriculture or to put into practice other findings of our initiatives dealing with animal welfare.
