The second online forum by EQAsce and its network partners has dealt with the new Safety Culture Ladder Standard. Expert Marlies Becker from Lloyd’s Register – that runs an office in Cologne – has presented requirements and procedures for getting a certification for this standard. This includes a close look upon the corporate culture of an enterprise that should deal with safety issues and their joint development within the company – in the best ranking in cooperation with the entities of the whole sector. Safety and safety at work are aspects of good management that lays a focus on its employees and social aspects and not only on economic issues.
In this discussion, that has taken place in the end of August, the idea arose to think of a similar standard for the agri and food sector that is based upon Safety Culture Ladder Standard. These sectors deal with health, safety at work and safety issues as well and need these aspects for their preventive health management. All entities along the value added chains of the agri and food sectors as well as the food retailing industry that invest into preventive measures can quickly react and rely upon established structures in times of crises.
EQAsce is going to continue the development of this idea jointly with its network partners. A third online forum is planed for the end of September about the topic “Cross-border cooperation for the development of management standards”.
