A new label for products of animal origin seeks to help on taking shopping-decisions for consumers. According to a notification, up to now consumers think about living conditions, animal welfare, health issues and much more when buying a product. Existing labels that want to help finding the right things concentrate on specific aspects. The One Health Label promises to cover all areas of health of humans, animals and environment. “One Health Certified TM” wants to implement a new way of transparency to the consumers.
A similar goal is the intention of the EQAsce-project “GeTie” that aims at labeling the common effort for “animal welfare” for products of animal origin. In a similar way, “GeTie” want to implement many factors that will be collected in a data base that is accessible to consumers, all participants of the production chain and those responsible for pricing and thus creating transparency. The “One Health Certified TM”-label considers factors of disease prevention, veterinary care, responsible antibiotic use, animal welfare and environmental impact. Factors for the GeTie-database shall first and foremost be defined by the farmers, which is an important part of the project.
